Overview

NZ Defence Force 'NZDF' Wellbeing Support Phone Line

Overview
All members of NZDF and the Defence community can contact 0800 NZDF4U or text 8881 for 24/7 confidential support which includes both telephone and face-to-face support. This includes Regular Force, Civilians, Reserve Force, families and veterans. You can call about any issue you want help with - this can include anything from general stress, depression, anxiety, relationship troubles, financial worries, to post-deployment problems or transitioning out of NZDF. A health professional (external to NZDF) will help direct you towards the best support for you. If it’s an emergency, please dial 111.

SPARX

Overview
SPARX is therapy in a free online game format for young people who are stressed, worried, or down. It uses proven CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) techniques to teach skills for dealing with depression and anxiety in real life. SPARX was developed at the University of Auckland. It has been tested and shown to work well and now it is funded by the Ministry of Health.SPARX is aimed at teenagers, but parents and others can use it too.If you are feeling down, do get help. You can call SPARX to speak to a trained professional.

Whakamana Tangata is a peer support space, 100% led by and for those with lived experience of recovery from a mental health condition, substance use disorder, or both. All of their services and advocacy iniatives are led by those the services are intended for. Every community is unique and nobody can understand needs, culture, and nuances like members from the community itself. A peer support worker walks alongside people and provides support to others experiencing similar challenges. They provide non- clinical, strengths-based support and are “experientially credentialed” by their own recovery journey.
